The post has remained vacant for over a month after the incumbent Chairperson Bhishma Raj Dhungana was sacked over controversy surrounding the share purchase of Sarbottam Cement.

The government sacked Dhungana on October 6 after he was accused of involvement in insider trading of shares of various companies despite assuming the top post of the regulatory body. As a result, the initial public offerings worth more than Rs 1.84 billion has been put on hold till date.
