Top leaders responsible for decision on army integration

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: A meeting of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist Combatants on Wednesday decided to handover the responsibility of deciding on army integration to the top leaders. [break]



“We decided that the top leaders of the main political parties should decide on army integration,” Janardan Sharma, the Maoist representative in the nine-member committee said.



The meeting was held at Singha Durbar. The Maoists have boycotted the committee meeting thrice in recent past.



The special committee includes Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel from UML, Sharma and Barsha Man Pun from the Maoists, Ram Sharan Mahat and Minendra Rijal from Nepali Congress, Tourism Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari from Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic), Jay Prakash Gupta from Madhesi People´s Rights Forum and Minister for Industry Mahendra Prasad Yadav from Tarai Madhes Democratic Party.



The committee will sit again on Sunday.
