105 prison jail escapes after quake arrested

MELAMCHI, Aug 18: Only 105 of 216 jailbirds – who escaped from Sindhupalchowk district alone following the April 25 earthquake last year – have been so far held captive.

MELAMCHI, Aug 18: Only 105 of 216 jailbirds – who escaped from Sindhupalchowk district alone following the April 25 earthquake last year – have been so far held captive. 



According to the statistics maintained before the earthquake, the arrested include 48 inmates whose cases were handed down by courts and 56 others whose cases are still sub-judice. Among the arrested are nine women and 96 men. 

Police have so far arrested 105 prison escapes, confirmed acting Prison In-charge of District Prison Sindhupalchowk, Akash Adhikari. 



There were 196 male and 20 female inmates in the Sindhupalchowk Jail before the earthquake. shared the prison office. Some of the escapes had come to the prison contact themselves after some days of the tremor while many of them were held by police squads. RSS
