DHANKUTA, Nov 1: Two Maoists were injured in a clash with UML cadres in Jitpur of Dhankuta on Sunday.

The injured are Jit Bahadur Shrestha and Bhoj Bahadur Khadka, said Dhankuta in-charge of UCPN (Maoist) Nirmal Kirati. They have sustained severe head injuries and are being treated at the primary health center in Jitpur.

The clash ensued after the Youth Force cadres attacked a Maoist program, Kirati said.

However, Dhankuta Youth Force coordinator Pravin Pokharel said it was the villagers and not the UML cadres who attacked the Maoists.

Jitpur bazaar remained tense following the incident. Police are patrolling the bazaar.

Meanwhile, Maoists carried out torch rallies in Dhankuta bazaar and other parts of the district on Sunday evening.
