KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The Ram Janaki Bibaha Panchami is being observed today with much more fanfare in Janakpurdham and other parts of the country.
The celebration commemorates the wedding anniversary of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in the ancient kingdom of Mithila, Janakpurdam.
Hundreds of thousands of devotees throng to Janaki, Ram and Janak temples to worship and take holy dip in sacred ponds from early morning today.
This seven-day-long celebration is also regarded as an age-old symbol of cultural ties between Nepal and India as King Janak of Mithila had married off his daughter Sita to Ram, the son of Dasarath, king of Ayodhya that lies in in India.
