10 Nepalis in Indian gangsters’ captivity

NEPALGUNJ, April 5: Ten Nepalis have been taken captive by a group of gangsters in India, it has been reported.

According to two Nepalis who fled from the clutches of the gangsters said 12 Nepalis workers were kept captive by injecting sedatives nearby Gonda-based railway station. They were working in various places of Panjab, India and were on their way to home, Nepal.

Suraj Kumal (24) and Mane Kumal of Dharmawati VDC of Pyuthan district who fled the captivity informed the police. They arrived to Nepalgunj via Rupaidiya checkpoint."We were taken captive and locked in a room while we were on our way home," the police quoted the youths as saying, "We lost consciousness after they forcefully injected sedatives on us."

We have been informed that ten Nepalis including an elderly are kept captive by Indian gangsters, Sub Inspector Krishna Soni, in-charge of Jamunaha Police Station, informed. Police said two captives have been identified as Ashok Kumal and Naryan Kumal of Pyuthan while the identity of the others have not been ascertained yet.

The gangsters robbed IRs 22,000 and IRs 29,500 from Suraj and Mane respectively.

The sub inspector informed that they have sought help from Rupaidiya Police to release Nepalis.

However, DSP of District Police Office Banke Sushil Singh Rathod said they have been informed two Nepalis have fled from clutches of Indian gangsters but know nothing about the captivity of ten Nepalis. "I have directed in-charge of Jamunaha for further investigation. He will coordinate with Rupaidiya Police into the issue," Rathod said.
