KATHMANDU, June 26: At least 10 Nepali Congress cadres were injured when they were attacked by Maoist cadres at Ale of Gorkha district on Saturday.

The Maoists attacked the NC cadres following a serious dispute over the formation of school management committee of Dhulav Higher Secondary School at Ghampase on Friday.

On Friday, the Maoists had even tried to disrupt a meeting held to form management committee alleging that more Nepali Congress supporters were nominated in the committee. However, police provided security at the meeting.

Maoists who were hiding at Alebhir attacked the participants of the meeting with iron rods and stones on Saturday, according to police. As the Maoists had warned of attacking the participants, they were returning home with police escorts.

Local NC leaders alleged that the attackers were led by Ramesh Pokharel, YCL chief of Gorkha, on the instruction of UCPN (Maoist) leadership.

Police refused to name the attackers.
