10-day remand for unscrupulous traders

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu on Friday sent five persons that were arrested for producing and selling adulterated sweets to a 10-day remand.



“We´ve received the DAO´s permission to put the accused behind the bars for 10 more days,” said Dhiraj Pratap Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.[break]



Police had arrested Madan Baba Maskey and her son Manendra Lal Maskey of Corner Taja Gudpak Bhandar, and Milan Lal Maskey of Shree Krishna Gudpak Bhandar on Thursday; and B L Sharma and Suman Thapa of Anamol Sweets and Lok Prasad Agrawal of Kanaiya Ghee on Wednesday. Sharma, 87, has been admitted to Norvic Hospital on health grounds.



“We didn´t request remand for Sharma owing to his poor health,” said Singh.



Police are preparing to file separate cases against the accused at DAO, Kathmandu under the Black Marketeering Act.
