Currently, the Prime Minister Dahal travels in a Toyota car (Ba 1 Jha 1029) worth Rs 9 million provided by Chilime Hydro Power Company. Home Ministry, Nepal Electricity Authority and other authorities have made arrangement for four other luxurious vehicles for Dahal.

The PM´s new car comes despite his suggestion to his party leaders and others to live a simple life. Ex-king Gyanendra, during his active rule in 2005, had ordered super luxury cars for him.

Issuing 92-point directives on practicing economy in public expenditures some five months ago, the cabinet had said that everyone holding public position would not be allowed to use more than one vehicle. The directives said those who use the vehicles and those who provide it are liable for punishment.
