KATHMANDU, Feb 17: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday demanding an interim order to prevent the formation of an interim political mechanism led by sitting chief justice (CJ).

Advocate Bhrat Jangam filed the petition arguing that political parties’ bid to form the CJ-led political mechanism is against the spirit and provisions of Nepal’s Interim Constitution 2006 and principle of separation of power.[break]

A meeting of the top leaders of the four political parties held at President´s Office in Shital Niwas Saturday evening had decided to form CJ-led government under sitting CJ for holding fresh election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) .

The petition has made the office of President and Prime Minister and Ministry of Council, PM Baburam Bhattarai and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as defendant of the case.
