Female detainees have been kept so far in Crime Investigation Centre for no availability of specialized detention. It has been difficult for woman police to accommodate themselves as they also require standing by the detainees in the absence of centre. [break]
There has been no separate woman detention centre after the police post was devastated in an attack on District Police Office, Salleri by the then CPN (Maoist) during the armed insurgency, said Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Ramesh Kumar Khadka.
"We need to sleep together with woman detainee in the centre. It is tougher to bring them to toilet in the night", said Hima Danuwar, a woman police.
Though the police office has repeatedly informed the police headquarters about the dire need of woman detention centre, it has not been heeded yet, Khadka added.
There is even no arrangement of drinking water and toilet in male detention centre. Sometimes detainees are kept outside the centre due to lack of space inside.
