Wild tusker attack claims 1 in Jhapa

DAMAK, May 6: A woman from Damak in Jhapa district has succumbed to the attack of a wild elephant Wednesday morning.

The deceased is Dhanmaya Karki, 45, from Dumse, Damak-5, according to the Area Police Office, Damak. Karki was trampled by a wild elephant while she had been to the jungle nearby the house for collecting fodder. She died on the spot.


The wild beast has moved back to the jungle following the attack, police said.

Locals shared that since Dumse area lies in the Chure area of Ilam, they have been suffering elephant menace on a daily basis. RSS
