Dr Bhattarai had shared the story to his wife Hisila Yami, who retold it at an event in the capital on Friday. [break]Yami said that Dr Bhattarai is so crazy about books that he even forgets to dine if he is into reading a book of his choice.
"Such a bookworm is the Prime Minister. I will assist if you come up with proposals to open libraries. I will work in your favour," Yami said at the seventh annual general meeting of Society of Kathmandu Valley Public Library.
"Even during these hectic days the Prime Minister never sleeps without reading at least an hour every day", Yami shared.
She also went on to reveal that Dr Bhattarai would quit her but not stop reading new books.
The society established in 2060 has been running the Kathmandu Valley Public Library at Brikuti Mandap a year after its establishment. The library owns over 50,000 books.
The Society said that over 90,000 readers have visited the library so far and plans were underway to shift it at a convenient place.
During the programme, Chairman of CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal said he was worried to manage some 15,000 books stored at his home. Chairman Khanal said he attended the programme hoping to find some alternatives to address the problem.
Chairman of the library Dr Narayan Khadka complained of lack of sufficient land to shift the library in a spacious site.
The Library is offering e-library, library and information service training, among other services.
