KATHMANDU, Dec 14: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah stated that he is focusing on building a livable metropolis for the citizens of all 77 districts. He emphasized the need to make KMC clean, green, and well-organized.
Speaking at the event on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the declaration of the local unit as a metropolis, he expressed his gratitude to the sanitation workers, metropolitan police, department heads, staff, and everyone involved in presenting cultural tableaux for their continuous efforts in providing excellent service to the residents of the city.

Mayor Shah defined Kathmandu as a city filled with culture, art, and music, and expressed his commitment to making it more cultured, prosperous, and well-organized.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol stated that infrastructure development is the top priority of the metropolis and continuous efforts are being made to build a prosperous city.
The ‘Safai Adda’ established on Poush 3, 1996 BS, was declared Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Mangsir 29, 2052 BS. The celebration of the occasion of Metropolitan Day has further strengthened the commitment to move KMC towards cultured, prosperous, and sustainable development.
