KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Nationwide voter registration for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election is underway.
According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Election Commission (EC), voter registration has seen an encouraging level of public participation in recent days. The registration drive will continue until November 16.
New voter registration open throughout Ashwin
The election for members of the HoR is scheduled for March 5. Only those who are already registered in the voter list and who will have turned 18 by March 4 will be eligible to vote. The EC has urged all Nepali citizens who will reach the age of 18 by that date and possess a citizenship certificate to register their names by November 16.
The EC said the high level of participation has overloaded the voter registration server, causing service delays and inconvenience for applicants.
After the HoR election concludes, as in the past, all Nepali citizens who have obtained a citizenship certificate and have reached 16 years of age will be allowed to register their names in the voter list.
