The VDC secretaries have been operating their respective offices from headquarters citing security reasons with the Maoist insurgency reaching the peak [break]
They are compelled to provide with services to grassroots people from the headquarters since they are still the subject of attack by various armed outfits emerged in Madhes after the Maoists came into peaceful politics with the signing of Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA), said VDC secretaries.
However, people of local area complained security threats are still prevailing in some of the VDCs but the problem is that all VDC secretaries are staying in headquarters for their convenience.
Most of the secretaries of western and southern belt of Sarlahi district have been running VDC offices from district headquarters.
VDC secretaries have not come back to VDC offices showing various pretexts even after security situation has relatively improved in the later days, said locals.
Locals have been hit hard to get services especially during rainy season when they have to pass through swollen rivers on the way to district headquarters for services.
