UML to stage demonstrations across country Friday

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: CPN-UML leaders said on Thursday that the party would stage huge demonstrations across the country Friday to create pressure for the exit of current government and forming national consensus government.



The party Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and other senior leaders, in a press meet at the party head office Thursday, said that various bodies of the party had already completed all preparatory works for the demonstrations. [break]



In Kathmandu, the party plans to take out a huge rally from Ratna Park that would converge at the same place after making rounds of various thoroughfares in Kathmandu in the afternoon. Senior leaders of CPN-UML are scheduled to address the gathering.



The CPN-UML, among other opposition parties, has accused the current government of trying to orchestrate political as well constitutional void to prolong its stay in power and rule the country unconstitutionally.



While the members of the ruling coalition have argued that they are open to a new government immediately after the opposition parties come up with an alternative, the opposition parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, has been insisting that the government should step down first.
