Describing the government decision to distribute around 600 million rupees as a worst example of misusing state coffers for political interest, the opposition party leader demanded that the decision be immediately revoked.
Khanal also expressed his serious concern over the government decision to "misuse state coffers" to provide compensation to those security personnel who deserted security forces during the decade-long Maoist insurgency.
"Our party demands that the government immediately stop such arbitrary and corrupt activities," read the statement. A recent cabinet meeting had decided to provide Rs 200,000 to each disqualified Maoist combatant and to compensate the deserters as well.
