UML Chair Oli undergoes successful gallbladder surgery

Hospital sources said that stones in his gallbladder were removed during the procedure.

KATHMANDU, April 13: Former Prime Minister and Chair of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has successfully undergone surgery for gallstones.



According to his secretariat, the surgery was performed successfully at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. Hospital sources said that stones in his gallbladder were removed during the procedure.

Oli was arrested on 27 March from his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, in line with the recommendations of a probe committee formed to investigate the Gen-Z movement. He was admitted to the hospital the same day after developing health complications.


Following a mandamus order from the Supreme Court, he was released into the custody of his family with the condition that he appear for investigation when required. Despite his release, he remains in the hospital for treatment.
