NUWAKOT, June 5: Leader of Nepali Congress (NC), Arjun Narsingh KC, has said the declaration of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election has been delayed due to the Unified CPN (Maoist)´s attitude of forging consensus and failing to implement it.

He said the UCPN (Maoist) has spoiled the environment of consensus by creating unnecessary disputes regarding the threshold of vote though the parties had already decided to this effect.[break]

Talking to Journalists at Nuwakot district headquarters, Bidur, today, NC leader KC urged the UCPN (Maoist) to give up the trend of not giving dissenting views while agreeing but protesting after the meeting.

During the meeting, NC leader KC said that there was no alternative to election for the nation could not bear any more burden of political vacuum.

He said it is not irrelevant for the IEC Chairman to say that the government would take decision by itself regarding the election if the political parties failed to forge consensus.

But while doing that, the government should not ignore the spirit of 11-point agreement forged during the formation of this government.

In a different context, he said that the hydropower project construction should not be disrupted due to protests organized in the name of upgrading of Trishuli 3A project.

He said if any financial irregularities were made in the name of upgrading the project, the bodies concerned should carry out investigation on them.
