Poudel was murdered in Bharatpur jail. Chitwan police Chief SP Bhupal Bahadur Bhandari said that Regmi, allegedly involved in killing Poudel´s younger brother Gopi as well, was arrested from Hakimchowk of Bharatpur on the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim´s family.
Police say search is on for others accused in the murder. Some of the accused are already in Bharatpur jail.
Poudel, languishing in Bharatpur jail on the charge of killing Sanjay Lama, one of the accused in Gopi´s murder, was attacked by jail inmates on December 6. He died while receiving treatment in Kathmandu on December 17.
Meanwhile, Chitwan District Court is all set to deliver its final verdict on the Gopi murder case on February 23. Gopi was killed on May 17 in 2009. Poudel´s father Narayan Prasad had lodged a complaint against 18 persons including Badal Gurung and Sanajay Lama for allegedly murdering Gopi.
Gurung and Lama have already been killed. Of the 18 accused, Rabindra Shrestha, Phanindra Shrestha, Suraj Shrestha, Sunil KC and Sharan Gurung are in the jail.
