The arrested are Bishnu Tharu, 26, originally from Kothiyaghaat-2 of Bardiya District and Tshiring Sherpa, 22, originally from Gaarma-3 of Solukhumbu district. Both of them are residents of Bhangaal-7 of Chapali VDC and are laborers by occupation. Police said both have confessed to the crime.[break]
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jaya Bahadur Chand at a press conference on Tuesday said that police were able to arrest Tharu as he had left behind one of his slippers near the incident site. Police found the other slipper in front of Tharu´s rented room. Police also found blood stains in Tharu´s pants, according to Chand.
According to police, after work on Saturday Tharu and Sherpa had supper at a local restaurant followed by drinking and they had an altercation with the victim, who died after a fight. Police inspector Manjit Mukarung, who is investigating the murder said, "Tharu and Sherpa have confessed they dragged the victim to a nearby ground and hit him with two big stones in the head."
After the man cried for help and before people started gathering the two escaped the scene, Mukarung said. The locals rushed the man to TU Teaching Hospital where he was declared dead. Mukarung said the deceased was in blue shirt, dark brown pants, old shoes and was wearing a metal ring in the middle finger of the right hand.
Some local people from the incident area have claimed that the man is from Lalitpur, Mukarung said.
