TU VC’s resignation approved

Baral had reportedly been under pressure from Prime Minister Oli to step down following the change of government in July 2024.

KATHMANDU, April 10: Prime Minister and Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, KP Sharma Oli, has approved the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Keshar Jung Baral, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.



Vice-Chancellor Baral had resigned some days ago, citing “health reasons”.

A permanent resident of Pokhara, Prof Baral was appointed the 20th Vice-Chancellor of Nepal’s oldest and largest University in February 2024. At that time, the Chancellor of the university and then Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, had appointed him to the post.


Baral had reportedly been under pressure from Prime Minister Oli to step down following the change of government in July 2024.
