Talking to media persons, NC President Sushil Koirala said the president told them that he would not take any decision unless all the parties forge consensus. “I will follow your decision. Come to me after forging consensus on all issues including the new budget,” he quoted the president as saying.
Koirala argued that since the unilateral decision of the Baburam Bhattarai-led government to announce fresh election had created trust deficit among the political parties the current government must step down first.
UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the president expressed worry over the failure of the ruling and the opposition parties to forge consensus. “He said the nation cannot afford an economic crisis. The parties must forge consensus on all issues including the new budget,” he quoted the president as telling them.
