Tibet positive for bus service

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Tibet authority has agreed in principle to operate bus service from Nepal and provide visa to international tourists in Nepal.



According to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the fourth meeting of China’s Tibet-Nepal Joint Tourism Coordination Committee held on Monday and Tuesday in Lhasa, the MoU was signed by Laxman Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and Wu Ying Jie, Standing Committee Executive Vice Chairman, Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, China.[break]

 

Tibetan side also agreed promote Nepal Tourism Year 2011 in Tibet through media and hoarding boards and allow regular helicopter and charter services from Nepal to Mansoravor area. The concerned authorities of both governments will work closely to execute the understandings.



Both sides agreed that the implementation of fresh MoU will be helpful in smooth flow of tourists between Nepal and Tibet.



Nepali delegation members were Consul General of Nepal to Lhasa Naindra Upadhayay, NTB Director Aditya Baral, Under-secretary of MoTCA Babu Ram Bhandari, Ram Saran Pudasaini from Ministry of Finance, Ang Tsering Sherpa (past president of Nepal Mountaineering Association ), Misri L Mandal (Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal), Bala R Dhakal (Ministry of Home), Chet N Pandey (tresurer of Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agents), Khum B Subedi (treasurer, TAAN) and Ghanendra Shrestha (Hotel Association of Nepal).



The Tibetian delegation was lead by Ba Zhu, Director General of Tourism Bureau of T A R China.



The next round of the committee meeting will be held in Kathmandu in November.
