The knockout tournament carrying the highest cash prize in Nepali football will kick off at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on September 12. The tournament will feature 16 top-flight clubs competing in the A Division League. [break]
Armed Police Force (APF) Club and NIBL Friends Club are placed in Group A along with Three Star and Madhyapur, according to the draw.
Likewise, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC), New Road Team (NRT), Tribhuvan Army Club and Machchhindra Club have been drawn in Group B.
The teams in Group C are Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club, McDowell´s Ranipokhari Corner Team, Mahindra Bansbari Club and CMG Sankata Club.
National League champion Nepal Police Club (NPC) has been drawn in Group D along with Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club, Bauddha FC and Saraswati Club.
The first match of Group B will be held between MMC and Machhindra, while Himalayan Sherpa will take on Sankata in the opener of Group C. Likewise, NPC will face Saraswati Club in the first game of Group D.
The matches will be held in league-cum-knockout format and the top two teams from each group will advance into the quarterfinals. The tournament will run for a month and carries a purse of Rs 3 million for the winners. The winner will bag Rs 1.5 million while the runner-up will get Rs 700,000. The semifinalists will receive Rs 150,000 each.
The best player will be awarded a motorbike, while the four best players -- goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward -- and the best coach will receive Rs 75,000 each.
The participating clubs will also receive Rs 100,000 each for preparations.
