In 69 kg category, Jhanta lifted 73 kg in snatch to better her previous record by 1 kg. In clean and jerk she lifted 82 kg. Both Tara and Laxmi bettered their previous national record in clean and jerk. Tara lifted 81 kg in jerk, one kg more than her previous record and in snatch she lifted 62 kg under 75 kg weight category. Likewise, in above 75kg category, Laxmi lifted 73 kg to add three kg to her previous record in clean and jerk.
Nepal´s title dream shatters
KATHMANDU, July 21: Nepal´s dream of winning the title under women´s category got shattered after Shanta Thapa suffered a loss Tuesday in the eighth round of 11th Standard Chartered School Chess Tournament, which is underway, at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Shanta lost to the Tanjina Akhter Tani, the top position holder from Bangladesh, in top board. Her loss ensured the title for Tanjina who has accumulated 7.5 points and any outcome of the last round match -- positive or negative will not bar her from winning the title. Shanta was limited to six points.
Under men´s category, Bijayraj Aryal eased past Rafinul Islam Arnob in the 22nd move to secure his fifth consecutive victory to add six points to his account. But the day did not seem to favor Rupesh Jaiswal who faced his second consecutive loss. Rupesh lost to Sourik Roy Chaudhary of India to be limited to 5.5 points.
In girl´s category, Asmita Adhikari registered victory to add 5.5 points to her account.
