Three individuals injured in a bear attack in Humla

The injured include 59-year-old Lakshya Rawat, his 55-year-old wife Banchu Rawat, and 38-year-old Rajani Rawat, all originally from Jaira Village, Ward no. 1, Sarkegad Rural Municipality, but currently living in Simkot.

HUMLA, Nov 23: Three people were injured in a bear attack at Sim, ward no. 5 of Simkot Rural Municipality this morning. 



The injured include 59-year-old Lakshya Rawat, his 55-year-old wife Banchu Rawat, and 38-year-old Rajani Rawat, all originally from Jaira Village, Ward no. 1, Sarkegad Rural Municipality, but currently living in Simkot. 


At around 6:10 am, while they were collecting grass in the Sim area, a wild bear suddenly attacked them, as reported by Shankar Pokharel, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

Pokharel said that Lakshya and Banchu sustained head injuries, while Rajani has minor injuries to her legs and back. He further mentioned that local residents aided in rescuing the injured individuals, who were swiftly taken to the district hospital in Simkot for medical treatment. 


Lakshya and Banchu are reported to be in critical condition, while Rajani is out of danger. 


Local residents have complained of an increase in bear attacks in Humla over the last few months.
