Third Replenishment Meeting of IDA-21 begins in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, June 18: The third replenishment meeting of the International Development Association (IDA)-21 starts today in Kathmandu.


The World Bank management accepted Nepal's proposal to host the meeting, and more than 200 representatives from 61 countries, including the Senior Managing Director of the World Bank, Axel Van Trotsenburg, are attending the meeting that will continue till June 21.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate the event. Over the next four days, donors, representatives of recipient countries, and high-ranking World Bank officials will engage in in-depth discussions. These discussions will focus on the commitment of concessional loans and grant aid to IDA countries for the next three years, as well as priority areas, policy frameworks, result blueprints, and the necessary financial resources.


Participants will also visit nine different projects in Nepal related to education, drinking water, reconstruction, energy, and climate, all supported by the World Bank. This will provide an opportunity to showcase the progress and status of these projects to the global community.
