Two hotels each from Pokhara and Chitwan and six hotels from Kathmandu have been included in the list. According to the portal Shaligram Hotel of Patan, Lalitpur is the number one hotel in Nepal. Second stands Dwarika's hotel while Landmark Forest Park stood in the third position. Shambaling Boutique Hotel, Hotel Tibet International, Gokarna Forest Resort, Hotel Shambala, all in the capital have been graded forth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Temple Tree Resort and Spa of Pokhara, Hotel Seven Star of Chitwan and finally Waterfront Resort Hotel of Pokhara again stand at eighth, ninth and tenth, positions.
The rating has excited hotel entrepreneurs claiming that being mentioned among best hotels around the world even amid such disturbing situation in the country is not a small matter. "We are extremely happy that we made it into the list even during such situation in the country. The rating has been done on the basis of costumer's feedback, it feels great," said Krishna Acharya, manager of Temple Tree Resort and Spa, Pokhara which came eighth in the list. The hotel was established four years ago and has made it to the list since then.
According to Acharya, getting listed among best hotels directly impacts the business. Tourists generally check out the trip advisor's list before coming to Nepal and the enlisted hotels naturally fall in their choice, Acharya said. "This time, it was very difficult keep the service intact due to the earthquake and then the Indian economic blockade. Yet, we were very careful and committed towards not compromising our services," Acharya said.
Remarkably, huge number of hotels and restaurants had either cut their services or completely shut their business following the fuel crisis invited by the blockade. Acharya stated that though that was a huge challenge, his hotel did not make the visitors feel any difference even during the crisis. "That must be the reason why our hotel could fare well even this time," he said. The hotel has 50 rooms and the management is working on extending it to 70, Acharya informed.
Another hotel in Pokhara, Waterfront Resort which also made it to the list is no less elated. It was also established four years ago and has been enlisted in the Travelers choice since then, consistently. The hotel manager Santosh Karki proudly informed. "It feels great to get such recognition. This brings more and more number of tourists," he said.
Karki stated that it needs great labor to make it to the list. Similarly, only the hotel management which believes in team work can fare well, he said. "If there's no team spirit, a hotel cannot perform well. It's purely team work. All the staffs of hotel, no matter in which position they are, has too give their hundred percent. Then only it gives such result," said Karki. According to him, customers cannot be fooled. They distinguish well whether they are getting good service and facilities. "What we must give to the costumers is service and facility. That's what they pay us for," he said. The hotel has 58 rooms.
Landmark Forest Park, which came third in the top ten list and is spread across 26 ropanis of land offers 51 deluxe rooms. The hotel opened two years ago and this is the first time it has made it to the best hotels for the first time. Om Prakash Pandey, the owner, stated that the news has exited all the hotel members. "We have come third in just second year of its establishment. For us, it's celebration time," he said. "Very peaceful environment and warm hospitality is our secret. Similarly, tourists can enjoy seeing wildlife right from their room. This special feature might also have made this hotel remarkable," he added. The Landmark Hotel has a branch hotel in Pokhara as well.
Som Bahadur Thapa, president of Pokhara Tourism Committee noted that the rating by the portal has greatly encouraged the entire hotel business. The hotels in Pokhara are quite excited and this will boost their business further, he said. "This is huge encouragement at a time when business sector is badly hit due to various causes. Our hotels in Pokhara would be noted worldwide, it's a matter of pride," he said.
