Temperature of Bhairahawa above 43 degree Celsius, normal life affected

Lumbini (Rupandehi), June 7: Normal life in Tarai region has been hit hard due to increasing heat and head wave or loo for the past few days.

This year's highest temperature in Rupandehi was recorded on Saturday, with the mercury running as high as 43.3 degree Celsius.

According to Weather Forecasting Division at Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha Airport, the temperature above 40 degree Celsius has been recorded regularly for the past few days.Division Chief Rajesh Jha said the highest temperature last year was recorded at 42.4 degree Celsius on May 21, 2014.The temperature of Bhairahawa in the beginning of Jestha month has remained around 41 degree Celsius on an average, according to the Division.

With the scorching heat, movement of people in market has decreased and trade and business activities have gone down. Mainly children and elderly persons have been hit hard.

Number of patients suffering from different disease including diarrhoea, fever, typhoid and jaundice has gone up at health institutions following the increasing heat, according to government and private hospitals. RSS
