The two Sheikhs had taken out Imtiyar--son of Sukhadi, a building contractor from Motihari, Bihar living in Narayangadh --promising to buy him sweets. The two Sheikhs, who do embroidery work on saris, share an apartment with the Ansari family in Chhetrapur, Narayangadh and nobody suspected that anything was amiss.
But the Ansaris got worried when their son did not return home by night. Their worst fears came true when the kidnappers made a ransom call the next morning. The family immediately contacted police, who nabbed the rookie miscreants in no time.
The boys said they were in Birgunj but the police found that they were in Rautahat. “We then informed police in Rautahat. A team was sent from here as well and we were able to arrange a safe rescue,” Superintendent of Police in Chitwan Pushpa Ranjit said, presenting the four to media Wednesday.
The kidnappers had first demanded Rs 150,000 but they finally climbed down to Rs 40,000. A police team accompanying Sukhadi as he was going to pay the ransom caught the boys in Gaur, Rautahat on Tuesday.
Chanci is from Motihari, like the Ansaris, while Kaushar is from Hajmaniya, Rautahat, Mohammad from Sarlahi and Das from Patharabudharam, Rautahat. The four, who earn around Rs 7,000 per month through their embroidery work, confessed to carrying out the kidnapping for easy money. Police said two other youths, who masterminded the abduction, are still at large.
