KATHMANDU, June 20: The Ministry of Health, along with the Tribhuvan University (TU), has reached an agreement to provide medical treatment facilities to TU students and faculty at federal hospitals and institutions.
According to the agreement signed in the presence of Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel and TU Vice Chancellor Dr Khadga KC, treatment services will be provided at all federal hospitals and institutions with 90 percent covered by TU’s medical fund and 10 percent as individual contribution.

The agreement also states that TU will encourage its faculty and students to enroll in health insurance.
During the event, Minister Paudel stated that the government has already decided to enroll everyone involved in the organized sector into the Health Insurance Fund. He urged TU to also ensure that all its members are enrolled in the coming days to provide them with health insurance benefits. He expressed confidence that TU would soon complete the necessary groundwork for this initiative.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen the health insurance program by increasing resources and introducing policy reforms, Minister Paudel said that the participation of TU’s professors and students would send a positive message.
Health Ministry Secretary Dilli Ram Sharma expressed confidence in the effective implementation of the agreement.
TU Vice Chancellor Dr Khadga KC said the process to enroll members in the health insurance program has already begun and announced the formation of a task force for the initiative. He also mentioned plans to further enhance cooperation between the university and the ministry in the fields of education and health.
