SPORTS BRIEFS:Rimal wins 5km race

KATHMANDU, Sep 18: Hari Kumar Rimal won the men´s 5km race on Tuesday in the Chief of Army Staff Trophy. Rimal clocked 15 minutes 11.35 seconds to win the gold while Kalyan Baniya and Raj Kumar Bista finished the race second and third respectively.



 Likewise, Surya Khatri remained on the top of the podium in men´s high jump. Khatri crossed 1.85m. Prem Bahadur Singh and Santosh Ramtel claimed silver and bronze medal, respectively. Tara Bahadur Karki clinched gold medal in men´s discus throw while Krishna Bahadur Giri and Bishnu Bahadur Kunwar finished second and third.



Only one match against Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: Nepal will play only one international friendly with South Asian neighbor Bangladesh as the first match scheduled for Tuesday evening was called off by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).



According to a press release issued by ANFA on Tuesday, the first friendly match was cancelled due to the unfavorable ground condition following downpour on Sunday and Monday. Now only the remaining match scheduled for Thursday will be played at the Dasharath Stadium on Thursday. The match will be held at 15:00 NST under floodlights.
