Ganga Devi Adhikari, Anu Adhikari, Malika Thapa Chhetri, Roji Nagarkoti and Laxmi Bhatta had won golds in the women´s section during the championship.[break]
In the men´s category, Sunil Lama, Binod Maharjan, Bijay Lama, Mukunda Maharjan and Lekhnath Mainali had won a gold each. Likewise, Nepal had clinched four gold medals in the kata events.
The officials also felicitated four ITF players -- Umesh Rajthala, Bijay Shrestha, Bishwa Shrestha and Akash Khanal -- and boxer Raju Maharjan for securing medals in international events.
Khadka´s team wins practice match
KATHMANDU: Nepali cricketers preparing for the upcoming ICC World T20 Qualifiers played a practice match on Thursday. In the match held at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Nepal Red led by Paras Khadka defeated Nepal Blue by five wickets. Winning the toss, the Blue team led by Basanta Regmi elected to bat first and put up 125 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets.
Anil Mandal scored 34 runs off 31 balls and Sharad Vesawkar struck 22 runs off 15 balls. Binod Das took two wickets for Nepal Red. In reply, Pradeep Airee scored an unbeaten 59 runs off 55 balls to guide Nepal Red to a five-wicket victory in 19.3 overs. Paras Khadka hit 21 runs off 20 balls. Avinash Karn took two wickets for Nepal Blue.
Opel, Neric reach semifinals
KATHMANDU: Host Opel International and Neric Academy reached semifinals of the junior boys´ section of the Seventh Opel Valley-wide Inter School Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Opel defeated defending champion Daffodil 23-10 at its home court in Siphal, Kathmandu as Dawa Sherpa scored 10 points for the winning side. Neric edged past Steiner 29-27 to book its berth in the last four. Amrit Basnet scored 18 points for Neric.
Shankardev, KCMIT in BBA Cup final
KATHMANDU: Host Shankardev Campus set up a final clash against Kathmandu College of Management and Information Technology (KCMIT) in the Shankardev BBA Cup Football Tournament. In the first semifinal, KCMIT defeated Prime College 4-2 in a tiebreaker on Thursday. As the regulation time and extra time of the match ended at 1-1 draw, the match was decided through a tiebreaker, in which KCMIT emerged lucky. Suraj Tamang gave a lead to KCMIT in the 19th minute but man-of-the-match Rupak Aryal leveled the score in the 69th minute.
Meanwhile, Shankardev edged past Janapriya Multiple Campus, Pokhara 4-3 in a tiebreaker in the second semifinal match played at the National Police Academy, Maharajgunj. The match was decided through tiebreaker as the regulation and extra time ended on goalless draw. The final match will be played on Friday.
