Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) President Mahinda Vallipuram has informed that Llyod, who captained West Indies to remain unbeaten in 27 Test matches is likely to manage World XI during the match to be played at the Kinrara Oval if West Indies team is not engaged in any other major match during the period.
Llyod has mentioned that he would be delighted to take part in the effort to rehouse Nepali people after the two major earthquakes, as tweeted by Villapuram. The MCA is organizing the match for the reconstruction work in Nepal after the devastating earthquake. Llyod was the skipper when West Indies that won 1975 and 1979 ICC World Cup. Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga and former player Sanath Jayasurya have confirmed their participation for World XI against Nepal in the fund raiser match.
ANFA distributes relief in Lamjung
KATHMANDU: An 18-member team of the All Nepal Football Association on Monday distributed 200 tarpaulins and same number of mosquito nets to the earthquake victims of Tarkughat VDC 7 and 8 in Lamjung district. ANFA Acting President Lalit Krishna Shrestha and other officials distributed the relief materials to the victims in the presence of VDC Secretary Rajendra Paudel, according to ANFA. ANFA has been undergoing relief works since a couple of weeks following devastating earthquake of April 25.
Host Rupandehi wins in opener
KATHMANDU: Home team Rupandehai XI overcame Pokhara Valley Sports Club 4-3 in a penalty shootout during the 18th Tilottama Gold Cup that kicked off on Monday at the ANFA Technical Center, Butwal. The fate of the winner was decided through spotkicks following 2-2 draw in the regulation time. Elvis put Pokhara ahead during half an hour mark but Deepak Rai leveled the scores for home team in the 43rd. Teenager striker Bimal Gharti Magar made it 2-1 for the home team before Bishal Rai cancelled the equalizer with the stoppage time goal taking the match into tiebreaker. The tiebreaker saw home team gain upper hand and march into the semifinal. Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Dharan FC on Tuesday. The tournament being organized by Rupandehi District Football Association will see winner walking home with a purse of Rs 375,000.
