Likewise, Thakur Prasad Pahadi and former national team captain Uttam Kumar Karmacharya are appointed to the post of secretary. Karmacharya is an elected member of the CAN executive committee while Pahadi was appointed member of the committee. [break]
Meanwhile, the board meeting appointed other eight people as members of the CAN executive committee. The nominated are Sanjeeb Pandey (Eastern Region), Ram Chandra Sharma (Central), Deepak Koirala (Western), Purna Lama (Mid-Western) and Bipat Ram Chaudhary (Far-Western Region).
Likewise, Sunil Man Amatya, Amrita Paudel and Dharma Sundar Bajracharya are also nominated as members of the committee. Amatya was the vice president of the ad-hoc committee formed by National Sports Council on October 26, 2011.
B Division Super League in Syangja
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is all set to start super league round of the B Division Regional League at Waling, Syangja from Saturday. ANFA had conducted B Division District Leagues in 12 districts and the winners of the district leagues had participated in the B Division Regional Leagues held in two different places. The top two teams of each regional league qualified for the super league round of the B Division Regional League.
Kasturi Youth Club, Siraha, SM Sports Club, Dhanusha, New Generation Youth Club, Sindhupalchowk and Trinity Club, Syangja qualified to play the super league round. The top two teams of the super league round will qualify for the B Division National League, where they will meet top six teams of recently concluded Martyrs Memorial B Division League.
Taekwondo training kicks off
KATHMANDU: Nepal Taekwondo Association is organizing a four-day training for coaches and senior players. Altogether 206 participants are attending the WTF Taekwondo Peace Training which kicked off on Friday in Kathmandu.
A delegation of eight South Korean experts will apprise the participants about the new rules of the World Taekwondo Federation during the training that will conclude on Monday. NTA General Secretary Deep Raj Gurung said that such trainings will be organized annually and will also be held outside the capital.
Glucose-D supports Daffodil Cup
KATHMANDU: Dabur Glucose-D, a product of Dabur Nepal, has announced Friday that it will sponsor the Sixth Daffodil Cup junior football tournament and the Fifth Daffodil Championship Cup senior basketball tournament. Daffodil School and Dabur Nepal organized a press conference and announced that both the tournaments would kick off from Saturday.
According to Hari Dahal, principal of the school, 10 teams from different schools from Kathmandu Valley will vie in the junior football tournament while there would be eight girls´ team and 14 boys´ teams in the senior basketball section. “We´ll award trophies to the winning team while we have individual prizes for the most valuable players, highest scorer, best goalkeeper and best player,” said Dahal.
Both the football and basketball matches will be conducted at Daffodil Public School, Kapan and Daffodil Boarding School, Saraswatinagar. “We had supported Daffodil Cup last year. We found it to be a school-level tournament conducted in an organized manner and we decided to support this time again,” said Bikash Dangol, a marketing executive at Dabur Nepal. The sponsorship amount has not been disclosed however.
