KATHMANDU, March 30: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged political parties to discuss Friday's incident in Tinkune in Parliament.
Speaker Ghimire met with chief whips of major parties and stated that the violent pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune was an attack on democracy and republicanism.
As opposition parties continue to obstruct Parliament over the dismissal of Kulman Ghising as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Speaker Ghimire called on the parties to allow discussions on the serious assault on democracy.

Emphasizing the importance of debating this nationally significant incident, Speaker Ghimire asserted that parliamentary obstruction is unjustifiable under any circumstances, including when the session is not in progress. He insisted that the House must remain functional to uphold a vibrant parliamentary system.
Despite his appeal, the parliamentary deadlock continues with the opposition parties refusing to budge from their respective stances. Opposition leaders have declared that they will not lift the obstruction until the government provides an explanation for Ghising's dismissal.
During the discussion, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Kumar Bartaula informed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the House session on Monday. He also noted that the Prime Minister and opposition leaders have already discussed the obstruction over the phone.
Bartaula urged opposition parties to end the deadlock, pointing out that the Prime Minister has called an all-party meeting on Sunday to resolve the issue.
