Sneha Shakya Shrestha has become the first female barrister of Nepali origin practicing in the UK. After completing her final training to become a barrister (People) this month (February), she was listed as a practicing barrister by the British Bar Standards Board last year.

According to the Bar Standards Board, she will practice law on crime, family matters, and immigration. Sneha, who has a permanent home in Chautara, Sindhupalchok, came to the UK at the age of seven. She holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Essex and a law degree from King's College London.
After being listed as a practicing barrister, she responded that she was happy. She thanked all those who helped her become a barrister after a long period of study and rigorous training.
Stating that her professional challenge has just started after becoming a barrister, she expressed her commitment to helping Nepali people in the field of legal counseling as much as possible. Becoming a barrister in the UK is a long process and there is intense competition. After graduating in law, one should do a bar professional training course.
In the UK, legal practitioners are classified as barristers and solicitors. The barrister argues in court, while the solicitor takes the case and prepares the case. There are around 16,000 active barristers in the UK. Among them are Prof Dr. Surya Prasad Subedi, Devendra Singh Shrestha, and Sneha Shakya Shrestha of Nepali origin.
