BAITADI, May 4: Six people were killed when a jeep met with an accident at Pancheshwar Rural Municipality in Baitadi on Tuesday afternoon.

The ill-fated jeep (Se 1 Ja 123) was bound to district headquarters from the rural municipality carrying the mortal remains of Ward Chairman Govinda Singh Bhandari for post mortem. The jeep met with the accident after it fell some 500 meters off the road, according to the local police. The Ward Chairman Bhandari died as a result of a lightning strike.
The deceased have been identified as Jeet Singh Bhandari, 50, Dammar Singh Bhandari, 30, Himmat Bhandari, 27, and Deepak Bhandari, 40, of Pancheshwar-6, who breathed their last on the spot.
