Sisters from Jumla triumph at Hong Kong Ultra Marathon

Ramamaya completed the 50-kilometer distance in 5 hours, 34 minutes, and 5 seconds, ahead of Japan's Yuri Oshizomi by 24 minutes and 7 seconds.

JUMLA, Jan 20: Sisters Ramamaya Budha and Sunmaya Budha from Jumla have emerged victorious at the Hong Kong Ultra Marathon, securing titles in the 50-kilometer and 100-kilometer categories, respectively. The races were held on Saturday.


Ramamaya completed the 50-kilometer distance in 5 hours, 34 minutes, and 5 seconds, ahead of Japan's Yuri Oshizomi by 24 minutes and 7 seconds. Oshizomi finished second with a time of 5 hours, 58 minutes, and 12 seconds, followed by China's Yang Yan, who clocked 6 hours, 13 minutes, and 36 seconds. Rajya Lakshmi Rawal, also from Jumla, secured seventh place in the marathon, which featured 299 participants.

Sunmaya Budha triumphed in the 100-kilometer race, completing it in 11 hours, 11 minutes, and 47 seconds. She outpaced Slovakia's Veronika Leng by 14 minutes and 25 seconds. Leng finished second with a time of 11 hours, 25 minutes, and 22 seconds, while Vietnam's Ha Thi Hau secured third place, finishing in 12 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds.
