Siddhababa tunnel breakthrough today

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to attend the ceremony following his inauguration of the Bagnaskali Rural Municipality building in Palpa and the newly constructed administrative building in Dobhan, Tinau Rural Municipality.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The Siddhababa Tunnel, a symbol of national pride, will reach its breakthrough today, completing the tunnel from one end to the other. The milestone will be celebrated in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday.


Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to attend the ceremony following his inauguration of the Bagnaskali Rural Municipality building in Palpa and the newly constructed administrative building in Dobhan, Tinau Rural Municipality.

Project Chief Krishna Raj Adhikari said that the final 1.5-meter section of the 1,126-meter main tunnel will be broken through today. He said that other aspects of the project will be accelerated once the tunnel is completed.


The three auxiliary tunnels have already been completed. The project chief said that once the main tunnel breakthrough is achieved, work will intensify, including the installation of electrical lighting along the tunnel's floor and walls. Additionally, the pavement slope work will progress once the designated area for vehicle movement is finalized.
