KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Shanti Education Initiative Nepal (SEI Nepal) has announced that it will reconstruct 13 school buildings damaged by the devastating earthquakes and aftershocks that struck Nepal in April and May this year.

The announcement was made amid a ceremony held in the capital on Sunday to interact with the principals and chairpersons of school management committees of the respective schools. Issuing a statement, SEI said that it had signed the MoU to this effect with the Department of Education some time back, and will start construction soon after coordinating its efforts with various other government agencies.
The schools to be built include those from the earthquake-hit districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchowk and Dolakha. According to the statement, after completing the construction of school buildings, the organization will furnish classrooms and conduct teacher training in the second phase.
