KATHMANDU, July 1: Lawmaker and Chief Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Gyanendra Shahi, has challenged the government to arrest GB Rai.
Taking to Facebook on Monday, Shahi said that even after three home ministers have been changed, victims of the cooperative fraud are still waiting for justice. “Run the country later—first, show that you can arrest GB Rai,” he wrote, throwing down the gauntlet.

He strongly criticized the government, stating that poor depositors—who saved money by selling corn and bundles of greens on the streets under the scorching sun—have been denied justice.
Shahi urged the government to stop making tall claims and instead focus on arresting GB Rai.
Rai, the operator of the Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative, has been on the run in connection with a large-scale cooperative fraud case.
Nepal Police has requested a Red Corner Notice against Rai through INTERPOL.
According to police investigations, the cooperative defrauded depositors of Rs 1.35 billion. Rai remains at large and is suspected to be hiding in Malaysia.
