The police arrested them following allegations that the organizers collected money under the guise of providing treatment during the prayer meeting held in Tikapur on March 5 and 6. Reports indicate that they collected a large sum of money from patients who came for treatment at the event.

The police returned money to 23 victims on March 6. DSP Nabin Raja Budhathoki at the APO confirmed that they returned a total of Rs 598,000 to the victims. However, the organizers have not returned money to the remaining individuals.

During the meeting, an Indian national, Bajinder Singh, performed exorcism rituals under the pretense of treating people with disabilities. Some individuals who participated in the rituals claimed to have been cured. According to the participants, those who claimed to be healed were individuals associated with the organizers.

They misled the general public by claiming that they had been healed. Many people, falling into this illusion, gave money to the organizers. Hundreds of individuals from more than a dozen districts in the western Terai participated in the meeting.

Some attended in wheelchairs, while others were carried by their relatives. The sports ground in Tikapur Municipality-5 was packed with people, resembling a major festival or fair.

In the presence of Indian national Singh, a similar event took place on November 20 and 21 in Sauraha, Chitwan. There, too, people gathered under the pretext of curing patients.
