KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Tension gripped a Nepali Cogress (NC) gathering at Kapan Saturday morning after one Pravat Basnet attempted attack on party President Sushil Koirala with a window frame.
Police have taken the attacker into custody. Party workers Narmada Pokharel and Shyam Sangat got injured while trying to stop the attack on Koirala, who escaped unhurt. Both of them have been taken to hospital for treatment.
After the attack, NC cadres had pounced on Basnet, prompting Koirala to stop the irate cadres. With the attacker detained, the program has resumed. Earlier, Suman Luintel, an eyewitness, had informed that more than four people were injured in the incident.
