Scores injured in Saptari clash

RAJBIRAJ, July 20: Some 12 protesters were injured in a clash between police and cadres of Madhes-based parties during a program organized to collect feedback for the draft of the new statute.

Following the clash, protesters have enforced the district headquarters shutdown on Monday afternoon.


The clash ensued after police intervened while cadres of Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal (FSF-N) and Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party, among others, burned copies of the draft at the gate of District Development Committee, Rajbiraj while the function was underway inside the hall.

All the injured are being treated at the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital.

Likewise, Regional Chairman of FSF-N Birendra Majhi and Jogendra Yadav among others were injured in police-protesters clash in Bhardaha in Saptari-2.

Locals said a policeman too sustained injuries.
