School in rural Kalikot starts classes in a concrete building

The construction of a concrete building for Janasewa Primary School in Tilagufa Municipality-2 has made teaching and learning easier for the educators and students in the area.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The construction of a concrete school building in rural Kalikot has made it easier for students studying in the old dilapidated building nearby.

A three-room concrete school building has been constructed with the coordination of Nepal Red Cross Society Kalikot and the financial support of Luxembourg Red Cross and Tilagufa Municipality. The concrete school building was constructed at a total cost of Rs 2.3 million with the financial support of Rs 1.5 million from Nepal Red Cross Society and Rs 800,000 from Tilagufa Municipality.


Mayor of the municipality Shankar Prasad Upadhyaya said that the school building has helped in improving the quality of education for the overall development of the community. “The new building has provided students from rural areas with the facility to study in a safe and conducive environment,” he said, “This will further strengthen access to education in the region.”


The building was inaugurated by Mayor Upadhyaya, Mayor of Tilagufa Municipality, and Mariam Jacoby, representative of the Luxembourg Red Cross. Jacoby expressed her commitment to continue supporting education and disaster prevention projects in Nepal. In addition, the sub-branch building of the Nepal Red Cross Society Tilagufa was also inaugurated.


Bal Prasad Sanjyal, President of the Nepal Red Cross Society Kalikot Branch, said that the role played by the rural municipality in the construction of the building was commendable. He mentioned that the Red Cross Society is working in the areas of educational improvement of the school in Tilagufa, disaster management, and other areas.
