KATHMANDU, May 20: Supreme Court (SC) has cleared the way for the appointment of Dr Bishwo Paudel as new governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
A single bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla upheld the dismissal of the writ petition filed against Dr Paudel on Tuesday. By upholding the order issued earlier, the apex court cleared the way-at least for now-for Paudel’s appointment as the governor of the country’s central bank.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Governor Recommendation Committee has concluded. The committee convened to select the 18th Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank has completed its session.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel had called the Governor Recommendation Committee meeting earlier today at noon.
A source from the Ministry of Finance said the recommendation committee meeting held earlier today proposed three names- Dr Bishwo Paudel, Dr Nilam Dhungana, Anga Raj Timilsina for the Governor position.
Political leaders have already reached a consensus to appoint Bishwo Paudel as Governor based on these names. The Cabinet will convene shortly at Baluwatar to decide on the appointment.
The Finance Minister coordinates the recommendation committee, which includes former governors Mahaprasad Adhikari and economist Dr Poshraj Pandey as members.
