Saraswati,31, the widow of Ram Kumar Subedi, had been working at Krishna Prasai´s house at Anamnagar on condition that the house owner would pay for her daughter´s education.[break]
Radha Krishna Subedi, brother-in-law of the deceased, said, “Neither Saraswati´s family nor the police were informed after the incident; so we suspect it was not just a suicide.”
“We are waiting for the post mortem report and will not take delivery of the dead body until proper investigations start,” he said.
He further said the Prasai family handed the body to Khadga Prasad Adhikari, Saraswati´s father, at the hospital. But the evidence was obscured while purportedly attempting to save her, he added.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jaya Bahadur Chanda at Hanumandhoka said police will investigate the case according to the postmortem report. Harihar Wosti, chief of Forensic Department at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, said no internal and external injury to the body was seen except for a minor scratch. The report was yet to come as the blood sample had been sent to determine whether or not she died of poison.
Saraswati was said to have hanged in the bathroom on the top floor of Prasai´s five-storey house, after taking some poison.
According to the Prasai family, Saraswoti was taken to hospital as soon as they found her hanging.
